Who do you love to photograph?
I love to photograph couples that are crazy-in-love, kind hearted and are looking for something more than just a few photos to post online. The photographs from your wedding day will be with you for the rest of your life. It's worth taking the time to get it right. I work with couples who want their photos to tell a story, not just of the big moments but the little in-between stories too. I will be present and with you on the most important day of your life, capturing intimate moments that unfold in a way they should in front of a friend. I love to photograph people who let me in, who allow me to freeze time on the most joyous day of their lives, and who can't wait to see what I've captured.
What is your style of photography?
My style of photography is light, creative, fun and full of natural light. I love documenting your time with me, and having you show me what it is that makes your story different. I look for real moments and prefer not to stage anything. Newborn photos with your tiny new bundle of love looking just like that - a bundle of love - is a far better memory than having her perfectly posed in a basket. I look for locations that offer amazing light, at the right time of day, to help me create the perfect glow for your images.
What do you love about your job?
On a wedding day the anticipation and happiness that floats around in the air is infectious. I spend my day with the happiest people on earth. I capture looks of the deepest love and riots of laughter. I create moments of stillness when everything else is zooming past you at the speed of light and I spend my day in the world of someone else's love affair and capture it as they created it. Now tell me, who wouldn't want this job?
In a Lifestyle session I am grateful to be welcomed into your home or meet you outside and spend an afternoon getting to know your family. I love the grass-stained jeans on your 3 year old or the grandpa who doesn't want to get out of his chair. I want to capture your family exactly the way it is - all the messy, dirty, perfect details of your life.
Do you travel for weddings?
Yes! I would love to do more destination weddings and offer a discount to couples needing to me to fly or travel to your wedding location, making the idea of having a great photographer for your far-away-day a little easier to swallow.
Why should we do an engagement session?
So many people hear the words 'engagement session' and want to run for the hills. They envision cheesy, perfectly posed kisses and a sign that reads "I said YES!" in the foreground. No. No no no no no. I hope that together we create an engagement session that completely reflects how individual you are from everyone else. This is the time to tell me you love snowshoeing, riding the gondola at Black comb or doing your laundry together in a laundry mat. This is where we choose the magnificent backdrop of the BC mountains, or your perfectly styled and one of a kind living room. Let's do anything to escape the mundane cookie-cutter type portraits. Choose creativity and adventure, and if you can't decide on a location I am standing on the sidelines just waiting for you to ask me! Let's get the awkward moments and details of looking natural in front of the camera out of the way before I'm standing in front of you on your wedding day. I don't want to waste your time, and I know you will thank me after. Chances are if we do an engagement session that is suited just for you and your personalities, you'll leave feeling like you were on a date, not a photo shoot.
I look terrible in photos, I don't like having my photo taken.
Absolutely everyone either thinks this, or says this to me. People you see on my website and in my portfolio all said this. My philosophy is that if you feel comfortable and beautiful then it will translate through my lens. My job is to make you feel at ease and comfortable in front of the camera, but it takes a bit of open mindedness from you too. We will spend time walking and talking to ease ourselves in, and when I see a great spot for a photograph, I'll just suggest that you make your way over there. Your photos should reflect you, and in the end I want to photograph you and the love of your life feeling amazing.
We need help, can you help us?
Of course! I have had the pleasure of being involved in countless weddings, and I am here to give you any tips, tricks, or contacts you desire, or to provide a flask of whiskey when you really need it. I will help you with the day-of schedule, venue site visits, family photo list and any other questions you might have. I want to help you get all the details out of the way so that on your wedding day you can just sit back and relax. We can work together to find the right amount of time for your bridal portraits and the perfect location to shoot them. If you have questions, I will do my absolute best to get you answers.
Should we get a Wedding Album?
The wedding day is over, the dress is all wrapped up, you have your photos and now everyone wants to see them. Where do you start? Your wedding day is more than just the photo of your rings, the first kiss and your first dance. It's the look on her face when you spoke your vows, the tears your father-in-law wiped away and the stunning view from the reception balcony. Your story is the entire day with all the details wrapped into something you should be able to hold in your hands. I shoot on a digital camera, and you will have digital images that will be incredible keep sakes, but consider having me tell your story moment to moment, cover to cover. I will craft an album of all the perfect details in the way your day unfolded.
