These are two of the sweetest people I've had the pleasure of photographing in a long time. I love any opportunity to photograph in my home town of Kelowna, so when Heather asked if I could take a few photos of them the next time I was back in town I jumped at the chance. I had a very epic "top of the mountain" location picked out for us, and on the day I was home it was cold, windy and very wet. So, instead of having these two climb up the side of a hill for one amazing shot, we decided that sticking close to home in an apple orchard in East Kelowna was the better bet. Heather grew up on an orchard, the daughter of an orchadist, the grand daughter of an orchardist, the great-grand daughter of a orchardist. I know all this because she is my little cousin, and grew up across the gully from my back yard - also in the middle of an orchard. These images feel like home to me, and that's exactly what I wanted to give Heather + Julian... a little piece if home to hang on their walls. As it turns out, these two were a little camera shy, so hiding among the full branches of apples was a perfect way to capture the closeness between them...without getting too close : )
